It Is Your Country...Seek the Truth

Posted by Thomas Ault on March 3, 2016 at 6:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Sometimes we have to just sit back, watch and listen and not be caught up in what is being said, but what is the true meaning, and then we must consider how what we are hearing might effect the rest of our lives...such is the poitical arena today...a lot of retoric, but terribly low on substance.

This is not something that is being crammed down anyone's throat but really something for you to consider as you listen to the things being tossed about..

Do you remember the bullies of your school years? Try to remember them and the classmates of the time, when you were there!

Today is the first day of your new world. For each of us, when we arise from the sleep we have received, as a gift from God, it is a new day blessed with refreshed thought and memories that we should base our lives on.

Throughout this world, today, there are millions of people who have no good memories of yesterday, or yesteryear, only the thoughts of what they will be facing today, as they arise from the broken promises of yesterday. These are the peoples of those countries that have lost their identities, their possessions, and in many cases what little freedom they once had. These are the people of Socialistic, Communistic, and other similar governments that are controlled by a few, while they are among the majority in population, but still minorities since they have no say in anything…they are like ants wandering around the earth doing the bidding of their queen and only concerned about her abundance of eggs that make their population continue.

Are we like those ants? Do we really want to live with only one objective in mind and it is not even our own desire or wish?

Consider this:

George was given an exorbitant amount of money to start his life.

George was taught from birth to be number 1 at all costs and accept nothing less.

George was a bit spoiled???

George did as he was taught, win at all costs.

George became insanely wealthy, but many times, at the expense of those less aggressive.

George now believes he is the wisest man in the world and tells everyone how wonderful he is.

There are people who believe him, because they have lost their own dreams.

The question is, should be allow George, with no knowledge of us, the poor ants, to assume control of our lives, our government, our futures?

It is the one thing that our great country askes of us…be diligent in your choices of who will be in charge! Have we given thought to the future, or are we just clinging to some ridiculous promise made to us by “Geroge,” that fellow who cannot come close to understanding you and me, the common man?

Wake up citizens of America; wake up before it is too late. Look at the history of the world and see the methods used by dictators, those elected to office for the wrong reasons, those that have taken advantage of an unfortunate guidance of a country in the past! Are we going to be taken in by a Geroge?

Remember, what we do today, as a unified citizenry, is what we will live with tomorrow…Were we not sold a bill of goods in 2008 by a fantastic orator? And again in 2012?

Think before you vote, then vote from wisdom, not salesmanship from someone who is taking you down the primrose path to destruction. Think wisely, remember what has happened, be observant of what is happening…ask yourself, “is this too good to be true?” YOU know where this is going, don’t you?

I know that each and every one of us has our individual thoughts as to this election year. For many of us this is not our “first time around the block” but this seems to be a turning point for our great nation, a turning point that will either set us back considerably more than we already are, or plunge us ahead into a new century with the objective of putting our nation on a more sturdy foundation.

We know of lies, cheating, scandals of the past, all things that we can mull over like bad memories; we have heard of "politics as usual" and many more things that campaigns bring out. What we rarely hear anymore is how wonderful our country is, how great it has been, and could still be with the right leadership that can take us from the hole we have dug through bad selection of leadership over the past years.

I have taken the path of listening to each and every candidate and placing their discussions in some kind of intelligent order, rather than trying to swim through the rhetoric that tells me nothing that is of value. There is no reason to listen to the blather about Joe’s recent past, John’s stupidity in college, Bob’s girlfriends of the past and present…it is time to listen to what these candidates say that they can do for the country, not what they think of the past problems they have all had or even worse, what their apponents may have had.

It makes no difference whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, a Libertarian, a Catholic, a Protestant, a Jew, black, white, yellow, red, or multicolored,  we are all Americans and it is time to pull together as though we were one unit of people, one party for the betterment of this great country that has fallen from grace in the eyes of so many foreign countries.

At one time we were number 1 in the world for product and for productivity. I heard that we are now somewhere around 16th in the world. At one time, we were the country to look up to. Now we are fast becoming the country to look down upon.

I am not fool enough to ask you to listen to and vote for any one candidate. I am wise enough, however to ask you to listen carefully to the candidates, remember what has taken place in your lives as far back as you can remember, and choose what is best for our country, not what is best for yourselves individually.

We are a country that has pulled itself up from the struggles, that all new countries go through, to the level of success we were... not too many years ago. We are not people who want to have everything given to us as we turn over all of our assets and corporations and businesses to the government.

In 2006 I had the luxury of going to a few countries in and around Europe. When I traveled through St. Petersburg, Russia, I saw people who have forgotten how to smile. I listened to people tell me how lucky they were that the government had allowed them to enjoy better food and more of it than they had had for some time. I saw a streetcar that would have fit nicely into our 1940’s and 1950’s era. I saw apartment buildings falling apart that people were living in falling apart. We saw people that were certain that we had to be spies as they watched us like hawks everywhere we went, (and by the way), we were never allowed to be without one of their guides looking over our shoulders. We visited the beautiful, gold adorned palace in St. Petersburg where even even the furniture laced with gold, and being led through the place with all eyes upon us waiting for us to steal something or do some other dastardly deed. Being watched by people that had no such luxury except in their pride of the past!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live like that. You can call it communism, you can call it socialism, you can call it anything you want to, but I call it a shameful way to treat your people when they have to worry every moment about someone looking at them and judging them and spying on them and condeming them.

Friends, keep in mind that we, as a country, have prospered through hard work and pride of ownership. At this point in time, it could be assumed that the bulk of our citizens owe more money than ever before and are getting deeper in debt every day. Free things like education, health care, and many other things, that have been received from the government, are gaining more and more popularity. One question…where is the money coming from to pay for these things? Could it be the $19 Trillion debt our country can now claim?

In ending this long bit of non-information for those that have been paying attention to what has been happening for the past several years, let me just say, God Bless America and God Bless those that keep her going…think before you vote, but vote after searching your heart, your mind, and your surroundings!

You and I are Members, Don't Delete, Just Read Pass On
The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older
has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday.
They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs.  Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time.
We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were.
We worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together.
Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.
In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age.
Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience.  We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.
We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off.
We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag.
We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing.
We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America
Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us.
We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep.
There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.
It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You  fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies."
You youngsters have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting.
Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.'  Now you're paying the price and complaining about it.  No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.
This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.
Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2016 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get to where we're going, and in 2016 we're going to the polls by the millions.
This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of  Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Eric Holder.  It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom.
We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.  So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Gray-Haired Brigade."
Footnote: This is spot on. I am another Gray-Haired Geezer signing on.   I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great county.
Can you feel the ground shaking???
It's not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.

Rainy Days and Mondays, (or other days)

Well, it is time for me to say something that is supposed to be exciting, interesting, mind boggling, or just plain good! Unfortunately, it is one of those gloomy days in Jefferson City when the sun doesn't shine, the rain keeps on coming and the threat of "old man winter" is on the rise. My mind isn't focusing in on anything spectacular so I am going to suggest something you might pursue.

If it is one of those days in your place of habitant as well, rather than reading some boring message from me or anyone else, why not just sit back, relax, and take a trip? You can't sit back, at home, and take a trip you say? I am here to tell you that is just not true. Being a writer, and author, an editor or whatever you call yourself these days, all of those titles mean nothing unless you have an imagination.

Let's get those energies all moving in the right way by taking a look at http://flicker.com/photos/tjault . I think if you check the album section you will find something of interest to you.

That's about it for today. Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention my granddaughter, Marie has recently written a book, "Ghosts Stories and Legends of Murphy, N.C. YOu might give it a look, right after you read on of my books.

Have a great day and don't let the gloomy weather keep you tied up in a little cocoon!

ISIS Versus World

Posted by Thomas Ault on August 24, 2015 at 7:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Well, I would like to write about my new book, "The Final Chapter." Unfortunately, I read the paper today, and then I listened to the world news, then I talked to a couple of people, and now, thoughts about my book have become less important than something else on my mind.

I realize that I am stepping on toes; am irritating people in my church group; am upsetting our minister; and probably making a lot of other enemies, or at least adversaries, but I just can't help it! I have to speak out!

Basically my outburst is based on a simple principle called "survivorship'!

I don't know how you  feel, but I am tired of reading about all of the people fleeing their country and letting the Islamic State take everything from them including there lives, in many cases. You know, if we were to eliminate all guns from our citizens so there would no way to fight back, how long would it be before we United States of American people would be running for our lives?

It is time for the world countries to band together as one enormour unit, then invade as an enormous unit of bodies, the Islamic State members. No doubt there would be a tremendous amount of bloodshed, and a lot of it from those country's armies and peoples eliminating the Islamic State members.  The question then is, "Would it be worth it to rid the world of these extremists?" And at the same time to send a message to all of those who think these terrible people have something good to say that they might understand, we as a world united will not tolerate them anymore.!

I feel deeply for those that have been ripped from their homes, having to leave their businesses, thier belongings, and flee in fear from these bullies.

I remember, long ago, my older brother told me that if you are faced with a bully, be sure and hit him hard and where it hurts before he hits you and that will end a future problem from the bully. I don't know that this fits this particular situation, but I do believe that had this attitude been adopted in the very beginning, rather than this "nice guy" routine, "let's talk about it", the whole world today would be a much better place.

Let's not blame the Methodists, the Presbyterians, the Catholices, the Christians, the Muslims, the Jews or anyone else! These are militant bullys who need to be eliminated, plain and simple.

The time has come for the world to stand up and say "NO MORE!"

This Ridiculous Money Game

I can't help it! Sometimes things I read bring out the inner feelings that I try to avoid as much as possible. But, try this on, these are two direct quotes from the Business Section of our News Tribune, and under NEW YORK (AP).

(1) "If oil keeps falling, it is likely to drag down the S&P500, Drillers and other energy companies make up a significant chunk of that index"

(2)The upside to falling oil is that all the money that drivers are saving at the gas pump should mean MORE SPENDING by them at stores----and a faster growning U.S. economy. But Americans are choosing to pay off debt instead of going shopping."

Now after reading those two portions of the report on our economy I find it very very difficult to have a lot of sympathy for those that gouge us at the pumps ever chance they get to pocket more of our hard earned cash, and then for the other large corporate owners to feel that we should immediately go out and spend more money (that we don't have) to incur more debt with higher interest for them to take home, rather than be responsible citizens and pay off our debts!

While the "0" interest rates that have boosted the stock prices, they have also made people stop saving since they get less than .5 % on their savings compared to past years when you could actually save money for a worthwhile purpose and use that as a fund for old age retirement.

Seems to me that soon the government will have us all in their pockets and that could be the end to a long period of a wonderful life in this once beautiful country of ours.

I don't know any of you feel, but your comments are always welcome.

The Final Chapter

As I sit here on the mantle, I can hear the rhythmic clicking of my inner working as the pendulum swings from side to side. It is as though the very heartbeat of time is calling to me from both the past and the present with questions about the future. Questions which I cannot answer.

So much time has passed since my beginning in 1879. Families have come and gone, and new people and places have taken their place. No object, such as I am, is able to do what I have done with my story telling about the past...after all a simple clock cannot possess anything but gears and springs that the maker has placed within it. Or can it?

After "Every Hour Counts", and "Moving West," it is time for "The Final Chapter." I will to tell the writer what has happened, as much as possible, even though my dictation is hardly heard over the din of todays new electronic world.

Good News

Back again...just like a bad penny, I continue to show up.

First let me apologise for not writing more since July. As you may or may not know, my wife, Paulette, and I have moved to a new place in Missouri. Being closer to her grandchildren was very important to her and being within a reasonable distance to my sons was important to me as well.

There is a writer's club here at the Lincoln University which I am looking forward to investigating. Barnes and Noble is now carrying, on line, "The Incident." I am very pleased about that.

Also, several young folks have approached me regarding the pictorial book featuring animals, birds, insects, and flowers that Jake, my dog and I wrote some time ago...(Jakes World for Kids) seems like the educational value has been well accepted and while the book is on the higher price side of things, it is apparently not out of reason for having 80 color photographs in it rather than the old comic style animals etc., that many childrens authors have been using.

Last, but not least, we enjoying this new little city of Jefferson. The rolling hills, neighborly folks, neat downtown and an ice cream store to be envied by anyone who likes ice cream (and I do). There are things for all ages to do. The downtown has something going on every weekend and for the most part these things are free to attend.

There are several small play house theaters here, and of course it is the capital of Missouri so there are constantly tours of culture for those that have that bent.

All  in all, things are pretty great here at Ault's Place and I look forward to hearing from you.

Consider This

I have not done a lot of complaining, well except to my wife who pays no attention to me anyway so that doesn't count, but you know, there is a lot to consider complaining about today.

Fortunately for me, my generation had probably the best life of any that were or ever will be in our blessed United States of America. We had employment, family, neighbors that we actually talked to and knew, schools that taught us to be considerate, to be wise in our thinking about others, that taught us about history, appreciation for those that had paved the way for what we were able to have, and above all, we were taught to be honest, God fearing, law abiding, and caring people. We actually had a conscience developed from birth because we had two parents, one who worked and took care of us financially and one who worked at home, keeping a clean invironment, and being available to use when we needed someone.

I wonder about today. Every television show has a certain amount of sex, homosexuality, lies, torment, and/or lack of concern for each other, let alone themselves (the characters). How does this affect the children of today?

The news media today lives for the gossip, the outlandish, the ridiculous things that they can blow completely out of proportion to get "readership." Many of the actors of today live for the publicity, act out foolish things to get attention, portray spoiled non-caring individuals who think that anything they can do for a buck is worth doing with no conscience. How does that affect the children of today?

Never has the truth been so stretched by the government, the news media, the general public servants as those things are today. The moto seems to be "Anything for a buck is okay." I can still remember when in "Gone with the Wind" it was terrible because the word "DAMN" was used. One time I, being quite innocent, took my sons and their little girl friends to see a show I think it was called "Seven Little Madens in a Row", or something like that. It starred Rock Hudson ( who a lot of you don't know or remember) who was coming out from a tradgek tisme in his life which I was totallly unaware of. How embarrasing is was that I had taken these innocent kids to a movie that had I known what is was about would never have done so. (My motto in those days regarding picture shows was simple, IF I WOULDN'T WANT MY CHILDREN TO SEE IT I DID NOT WANT TO SEE IT EITHER!. Well, surprise, surprise to me.

My point here is that as parents, at that time (the early 60's), we cared about our children.  Today that show would be considered tame and since is would have been so tame if would be for any child to watch.

Our school system now thinks that there should be no secrets. Don't hold anything back,  leave no room for imagination or no doubt about anything. Maybe you agree with that but I don't!

Now the question you are all pondering, "How did his kids turn out?"

My oldest, unfortunately was unable to produce children but is married and living very happily a couple hundred miles from here. We see him and his wife frequently and we have a wonderful relationship.

My youngest is an IBM executive, married a lovely southern lass, and has four grandchildren. He lives the good life and we see him as often as is possible as his job of traveling allows.

I don't know about you but I would not change the way I brought my sons up but I am glad that I don't have to face the problems of today. My prayers are with any and all of you facing the parenthood of this new, not so brave, world.
